Travel Guide: Malta

Sayoni and June traveled to Malta for the DLT Festival, a 4-day music festival hosted along Malta's most iconic beach venues.
Beyond late night dancing, the duo found time to explore Malta's UNESCO Heritage sites, take a side-trip to Sicily and sample some of Malta's most famous foods.
Read on for more tips from their girls trip to Malta:
WHERE TO EAT
-
Malta had a few Michelin Star restaurants on the island, like Noni and The Harbor Club.
-
Seafood and rabbit are really popular, as Maltese cuisine has a mixture of French, Arabic, and British influences.
WHERE TO STAY
- We stayed at the Bora Bora Ibiza Malta Resort.
- It's an 18+ resort hotel that lets you customize how inclusive you want it to be (i.e., breakfast, dinner, and spa treatments are all optional add-ons). It was super dope because practically everyone at the hotel was there for the festival; therefore, it was very easy to make friends.
WHAT TO DO
-
Malta has an abundance of history and culture. Many castles and monuments are UNESCO World Heritage sites.
-
If you're into outdoorsy activities, Malta has hikes, watersports, guided tours by kayak (or JetSki) in addition to some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
-
Sicily is only a ferry ride away--which I recommend over the 45-minute flight. The ferry is luxurious, spacious, and comfortable. Plus, you can stand on the deck to get some sun rays while you're in the middle of the ocean.
- Since we were staying during DLT, there was no shortage of parties and events to check out. Malta is known to host many music festivals, and the locals love their nightlife, so if you can't see anything you like to do, your eyes are probably closed.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
-
Bring a power bank. As times change, no one can keep up with what charger fits which phone...it's much easier to just bring your own bank
-
Bolt (rideshare): I felt incredibly safe, and taxis were not hard to come by.
-
Get Your Guide (activities): If you want help playing activities for the group, I'd recommend. Get Your Guide, although you'll find better deals if you don't use a middleman.
-
A lot of tourists on the island are there to have fun and hook up. It's like 24/7 Love Island. Be sure to take necessary precautions because it can be hard to find condoms and/or Plan B when you need them the most.
